Example of color control

In the Color Control Book, we first selected colors close to pure hues and presented concentration values to control these colors. The changes in concentration values presented here are different from those in general guidebooks.

Most of the horizontal axis is related to saturation (Sa).

Based on the horizontal axis, moving to the left from the designated primary color changes the concentration value of colors with lower saturation. In other words,By checking the changing concentration values of colors, you can understand the changes in saturation in color.

The vertical axis represents brightness (Br), that is, the degree of lightness or darkness.

There are ways to change the brightness of a designated primary color by increasing or decreasing one of CMY, or by adjusting the K value (black), which has little effect on saturation. Once you know this method, you will learn how to change brightness while minimizing changes in saturation in color.

It is very important,
but could not be found in other books,
That very list

〈Color Control Book〉 Trouble Color Control

We have designated trouble colors that inevitably occur due to the printing order, so you can prepare for trouble by specifying colors based on the color value changes that cause these issues.

These troubles have a significant impact on color and saturation. It's difficult, but since it's important, I'll explain the printing order once more to make it easier to understand. If you already know this, feel free to skip ahead 🥰

예시2.jpg

예시2.jpg그래프3.jpgPrinting is the process of applying ink to paper. In other words, ink is applied to the paper, then the next ink is applied, and so on, but since the printing order is fixed, certain colors may have too much ink applied beforehand, causing the next ink to be pushed away or smudged, resulting in colors that are completely different from what you saw on the monitor. That's what I mean.

So! These printing trouble colors
the colors you see on the monitor
should never be trusted.

COLOR CONTROL - Trouble Color Control Page

So how can we
control these colors properly?

First, find the paper most similar to the one you will use for your project, then select the desired color from those presented in the 〈Color Control Book〉. In this process, consider the Tr value, which affects trouble, and the Sa value, which affects saturation, and choose the color while referring to the flow of CMY density values presented.

As you frequently observe the flow of the presented concentration values, you will gradually begin to notice the inevitable color changes caused by the printing order.

By watching like this,

Something that most people do not know,

The principles of printing,

You will come to understand them.

Maker Introduction

I started as a book designer at the age of 26,and began researching printing at 29 to personally solve the problems that made me angry every time I finished designing and went to print,.Everyone around me treated me as a 'pathetic dreamer.'Just for the testing costs to achieve the desired color,I poured in enough money to buy several houses. With a daily printer rental fee of 2 million won and 4 to 5 million won per test, I repeated this hellish testing process over 100 times for more than 10 years.

After all these trials and errors and hundreds of millions of won in research costs, I became a **'separator'**, a very unfamiliar profession in Korea, and I have compiled all 21 years of know-howin 《PRINTING™ COLOR CONTROL》.

This book is not just a 'color guidebook.'

It is the ultimate weapon for designers, designed to help you understand the principles of printing and control the results.
