Why did we create mother-of-pearl shot glasses?
Although mother-of-pearl lacquerware is incorporated into various products, I noticed that it is rarely used for cups or shot glasses. Instead, most mainstream designs rely on transfer paper that imitates the mother-of-pearl aesthetic.
I wanted to showcase the true beauty of mother-of-pearlโits ever-changing colors depending on the lightโby crafting shot glasses that fully embrace its unique radiance.

Believing that traditions fade when they are not cherished and preserved, I wanted to incorporate mother-of-pearl lacquerware into everyday products that are easily accessible.
I hope that our mother-of-pearl craftsmanship, something we can proudly share with the world, becomes another opportunity to celebrate and enjoy our unique heritage.
Story 3

Mother-of-pearl lacquer chopsticks completed by a lacquer artist with 20 years of experience.
Eveje's lacquer chopsticks are first brushed so that the lacquer can soak in, then dried at high temperature for over 12 hours, and then rubbed with lacquer on a cloth for the second coat, and then the process of lacquering and drying is repeated at least 5 to 7 times. Afterwards, the mother-of-pearl is delicately attached and dried, then a finishing coat is applied and dried again.

Lacquer, a thousand-year-old paint passed down through tradition.
Lacquerware isa finishing material that has traditionally been used for a long time to finish products. However, in modern times, it has become more expensive than other coating finishes and is difficult to handle during production, so its use has gradually decreased.
Lacquerware boasts superior quality compared to other finishes in almost every aspect, such as water resistance, moisture resistance, flame resistance, insect resistance, antibacterial properties, and fragrance. Therefore, we, the artists at Eveje, thought that if we could combine the advantages of lacquerware well, we might be able to revive its popularity among the public.
