Artist Ssong's work notes

The first thing I considered when creating brushes waswhat style of brush to create. To digitally reproduce the unique textures of oil painting and oil pastels, I researched numerous references and compared them with actual hand-drawn results to set the direction.
ย
Next, for the brushes, creating and collecting sources was important. To perfectly reproduce the texture of digital brushes, I searched for existing texture sources and also created new textures using actual tools. By applying oil paint on real canvas and scraping it, or studying the smudging of oil pastels, I secured digital sources that maximized realism through physical experiments.
ย
Thedetailed brush settings were a key step that determined the level of completion. I adjusted fine pressure, flow, smudging, and patterns so that each brush would suit various environments and styles. During this process, I asked many artists for help and received feedback, reflecting their opinions and refining the details. For example, if the stroke felt too stiff or not smooth enough, I readjusted it, and I kept testing to ensure the unique touch was alive.
ย
The brushes born through all these processes have become more than just simple toolsโthey have become special tools that inspire creators. These brushes embody the journey of constant thought and challenge to achieve the goal of 'reproducing the texture of reality digitally.'

In July 2014, even before the release of the Apple Pencil or iPad Pro, I started using Procreate for digital calligraphy and various design projects.
At the time, digital work was still unfamiliar, but through this new tool, I discovered the possibility of expressing analog sensibility digitally. Later, based on the experience and know-how I accumulated over a long period, I published books related to Procreate and shared the joy of creation with many people.
In 2019, I also participated as an advisor for optimizing Korean typing in the app at the request of Procreate.

Currently, I am working as a calligraphy artist and brush creator, providing tools that inspire digital artists.
Considerations in the reward production process
I thought about how to naturally reproduce the thick texture of oil paint and the lively expression of oil pastels digitally. I wanted to create brushes that not only mimic textures but also convey the feeling of drawing by hand.
ย
Methods attempted to solve that concern
Through hundreds of texture combination experiments and stroke tests, we found the most natural and smooth user experience. In addition, by collaborating with professional artists and incorporating their feedback, we were able to create brushes optimized for actual work.
ย
This brush will become a tool for creators to craft new stories at their fingertips.

2. Current ongoing business/project
โข Creating artwork using digital calligraphy and brushes
โข Developing and selling high-quality digital brushes for creators to use
โข Preparing to launch digital oil painting and oil pastel brush sets through Wadiz funding
ย
3. Reason for conducting Wadiz funding
โข Purpose of conducting the funding
This funding is planned to introduce a brush set optimized for digital work to more creators and to help digital artists experience the joy of creation.
โข How the funding will be used
The funds raised through this campaign will be used for additional testing to improve the completeness of the brush set, developing new brush styles, and creating a brush usage guide. We also plan to invest in promotional activities to communicate the value of these brushes to more creators.
ย
Through this project, we want to experience the infinite possibilities of digital creation with more people.
