The journey to create the Gallery Book series

Art is so important that it influences many areas of our present and future lives.
However, we live in an environment where it is difficult to access art easily, unlike in other countries.

Great and beautiful art provides inspiration beyond mere emotion.

Perhaps masterpieces are the first step to becoming familiar with such art.

However, it was hard to truly feel the beauty and emotion from the many books about masterpieces around us.
That is why I wanted to create a book that truly captures the inspiration of masterpieces.

Autumn 2002. The dream I naively started back then, saying, "I will make a book like this."

It took a long 16 years for the first book to be published.

Countless trials and errors and unexpected costs experienced through Series 1 and 2.

For those seeing it for the first time, it may be a book where they say, "I don't know what the difference is,"

but I invested a lot of time and money to create that small difference.

I endured with the belief that someday more people would recognize this small difference.

To sell the book for less than 30,000 won, at least 5,000 copies had to be produced at once.

I waited and waited, bearing even the storage costs for over two years until all 5,000 copies were sold.

The anxious months spent trying to raise 50 million won in production costs for each series to produce 5,000 copies. There were just as many moments when I wanted to give up.

September 2017, the day of the final print test just before the launch of the Gallery Book series,

The moment of despair when another 10 million won in test costs disappeared.

It still feels unbelievable that what I dreamed of for so long has finally become reality.

It was made possible thanks to all of you, our supporters.

If it weren't for the supporters who believed in and backed Gallery Book, this book would never have seen the light of day.

Gallery Book is not a book that is made in advance, nor is it a book that simply comes out by printing, so it truly cannot be made alone. We cannot even advertise.

We believe that if we strive to make better books, word of mouth will gradually spread, and that is how we create our books.

There have been many shortcomings, mistakes, and accidents, but thanks to your trust and support,

we are creating with even more gratitude and appreciation.

Why did we choose Van Gogh for the first series of Gallery Book?

Because many people only know Van Gogh for his 'madness' and are unaware of his warm heart.
Van Gogh hoped his paintings would bring happiness and hope to people. Although he was not recognized during his lifetime, he is now loved as an 'immortal artist.'

This story of Van Gogh is exactly the kind of book I have dreamed of creating.

I want to create as many different Gallery Books as there are artists who have painted masterpieces.

Books that anyone can easily enjoy and that leave a lasting impression.

In a way, the lives of all artists, including Van Gogh, are masterpieces themselves.
Paintings can be displayed in frames, but a person's life cannot, so it is fitting to preserve them in the form of a book.

We will continue to create art books that add emotion to our dry modern society and help the next generation think of 'all of us' rather than just 'myself.' After all, art is the meeting point where children and adults can come together as one.

We promise to strive for even better books.

We could make them with better quality at a much higher price. But that is not the world we dream of.

Reason for Choosing Wadiz

The most important thing we considered while creating the Gallery Book series was 'accessibility.' To produce this book, which uses expensive special paper, at a price that anyone can afford, mass production of at least 5,000 copies is essential.

Of course, it was possible to create a highly collectible book at a high price, but that was different from the goal we have dreamed of for a long time. We wanted to gift the beauty of masterpieces, which our generation could not easily access, to the next generation. Not at a price that only a few can enjoy, but at a price that anyone can comfortably afford.

Future Use of Funding

The funds will be used for research and production of new Gallery Books. This includes not only achieving quality close to the original and testing for the best print quality, but also preparing in-depth artwork commentary and criticism in collaboration with experts.

In addition, we will expand the content themes, improve quality using premium binding and paper, and begin producing more series. Our goal is to go beyond a single book and popularize valuable works of art through consistent publishing, bringing relaxation and emotion into everyday life.

A. Considering that shipping is free when purchasing at a bookstore, we have structured the rewards with special benefits available only through Wadiz funding. Although the price may be slightly higher than at bookstores, we offer greater value in the overall package.

Q. Is there any change in the reward schedule?

A. Unexpected issues may arise during the book production process, which could cause delays. Any changes to the schedule will be thoroughly communicated through updates.

Q. Is there a significant difference between the new hardcover gallery book and the previous version?

A. This Vincent van Gogh hardcover edition has about 20–24 more pages than the previous version, with additional works included. There is no major difference in content structure, mainly an increase in volume and number of artworks.

Q. After funding, how can I change my options, shipping address, or card information?
