Hello, I am Sun Wan-gyu, CEO of Cheonnyeonuisangsang.

In 1993, I entered a publishing company without any preparation and began my journey as an editor. My favorite subjects as a teenager were Korean history and world history, and I naturally entered the history department at the college of humanities. However, at that time, I spent more time in the streets than studying, swept up by the trends of the era.

Afterwards, I returned to books and history, which I had forgotten for a long time, and one day I spent the whole day in the library reading philosophy books and poetry collections. That’s when I discovered the world of 'publishing,' starting by carrying and packing returned books at a bookstore near Sinsa Station. There,I collected publishing newsletters indiscriminately and became immersed in this work. On a rainy day, I happened to see a sign saying 'Editorial staff wanted,' walked in, had an interview on the spot, and started working there.

At first, I didn’t know much about spelling or writing sentences. I still vividly remember handing my proofread manuscript to the editor-in-chief and having a stack of papers thrown at me. From that day, I learned properly. I studied computers at dawn and took Hangul classes at night, building up my days one by one. Then one day, there was a short note on my desk: “Now work with a red pen.”

The first book I participated in was 'Aesthetics Odyssey.' I started as an assistant, but ten years later, I became the chief editor who completed the series.Before I knew it, I have been making books for over 30 years. After working at Design House, Pureunsoop, and Humanist, we are now publishing books in the humanities and social sciences under the name 'Millennium Imagination'.We want to continue sharing thoughts and connecting with the world through books.

Reason for Wadiz Funding

Since becoming an editor, I have only looked at the bookstore market for 30 years. People, times, media, and IT technology have all changed.
