WOOD98, born from the maker's concerns

There was always something missing when listening to music on a smartphone.

When you turn up the volume, the sound gets rough, and when you lower it, it gets drowned out by surrounding noise.
Earphones are convenient, but they make you feel isolated from your surroundings.
But having a large audio system is expensive and takes up too much space.

So I started to think.

"Softer than a phone speaker,
and easy to place anywhere, isn't there a speaker like that?"

However, most Bluetooth speakers on the market were either heavy or lacked sound quality if they were small.

So I decided to make one myself.

A sound much more comfortable than a smartphone,
a small speaker you can take anywhere.

WOOD98 began from this concern.
The name holds two meanings.

But why is the name wood98? (The Origin)

"Many people ask. Why is it wood98?"
There are two sincere reasons behind this."

Wood Wave:
No matter how much technology advances and new industrial materials emerge, wood remains our most familiar and comfortable companion. We hoped that visual comfort would lead to auditory relaxation.

Nostalgia for 1998:
In 1998, when the golden age of K-POP in Korea began.
Back then, without smartphones, we had CDs, cassettes, and LPs, and the songs we loved.
We wanted to gift the romance and memories of those days.

The first principle of portable speakers,
We focused only on size and sound quality.

We did not want to create 'pretty trash,' so from T's perspective, we set a few standards and pursued them relentlessly.

1. For easy portability, we made it egg-sized at 57x57x38mm so it fits comfortably even in small hands.

2. To reduce weight, we lowered the built-in battery to 500mA, bringing the weight down to 82g. Instead, by removing unnecessary LEDs and simplifying the internal structure, we made it possible to binge-watch up to 10 episodes of a drama with about 1 hour of charging.

3) By focusing the internal resonance upward for efficient emission,
'Chimney structure'was adopted.
Thanks to this up-firing design that pushes sound upward, the sound remains clear and undistorted even with a small output. This chimney filters the harsh treble of a smartphone into smooth 'music.'

4) To capture the metallic treble of smartphones, we reinforced the resonance of the mid and low frequency ranges.
We will not compare it to high-end audio.
However, no one can deny that the resonance of a phone, costing hundreds of thousands of won, produces a much softer and more comfortable sound in a small space than a typical speaker.

5) Instead of unnecessary features, we have equipped it with the latest Bluetooth V5.4. This allows for fast connection and stable communication with your phone or laptop, preserving over 90% of the sound quality delivered from your phone to the speaker. (There may be differences depending on the type of codec installed on your phone.)
