Introducing the Kiumaru pattern.
Kiumaru is an artist who pursues kidult culture, dreaming of fairy tales in beautiful nature, creating and drawing stories as if writing an illustrated diary.
The artist's illustrations are turned into patterns and commercialized into various materials such as fabric and ceramics.

Hello, this is Kiumaru Maker.

Features of Kiumaru's works.
Kiumaru likes things that are full of life,
and dislikes things that are static or lifeless.
I love natural objects more than flowers,
In my illustrations, flowers are depicted not as the main subject but as the background. I draw not real flowers, but imaginary ones, with nature as the main theme and flowers simply as elements that harmonize with nature. Just as one is drawn to a living cactus in a barren desert, I aim to express the resilient vitality of nature.

The process of creating and drawing Kiumaru by hand

The pattern work of Kiumaru begins with hand painting.
The illustration of the work is turned into fabric through a digital process,
Since the feel of the pattern can change depending on the design's cutting, I make it myself.

Kiumaru's illustrations are sometimes expressed as one-of-a-kind embroidery pieces.
Why Wadiz?
Through this project, I hope that the Kiumaru brand will be cherished and loved for a long time as a work of art with a story, rather than being seen as a consumable product with a pattern. Although it is concerning that popular patterns change by generation and era, since some Kiumaru patterns are still loved even after 10 years, I want to leave the pattern as a work of art rather than follow trends.
