About the maker

Hello! I'm Choi Eun-sook, the owner of ‘Saisega’, a book cafe & stay located on Lee Jung-seop Street in Seogwipo.

I worked as a reporter for the Dong-A Ilbo's <Women's Dong-A> magazine and authored travel books such as <Crazy About London>, <London 101> (co-authored), and <Writing Travel> (co-authored), as well as <Management Strategies for Blogs and Communities of the World's Top Internet Newspaper>, which covered the UK's Guardian newspaper.

To open this bookstore, I visited many bookstores both domestically and internationally, drawing inspiration from book-related books and films like <The Bookstore on the Island>, <The Collector of Ghost Stories from Secondhand Bookshops>, and <Bookshop>. I also serve as a guide for writing clubs, leading activities like <The Aritist's Way>, 10 minutes writing sessions, and transcription workshops.

Reason for Wadiz funding & plan for using the funds

Located on Lee Jung-seop Street and Olle Trail Route 6 in Seogwipo City, Saiseoga is both a bookstore and a book lovers' stay. From the stay windows, guests can see the thatched-roof house where artist Lee Jungseop once lived. The Lee Jungseop Art Museum is scheduled to open there in 2027. Funds will be used to develop Lee Jung-seop Street into a cultural and arts district, including inviting bookstore authors, planning art exhibitions, and publishing books about Seogwipo and writing. We hope Saiseoga, a book culture space along Jeju Olle and Lee Jungseop Street, becomes widely known both domestically and internationally.
