I am Ji Jong-hwan, the head herbal pharmacist of Seolarae.


The cultivated wild ginseng root is a product we began developing in early 2024.
I would like to share the story of how I developed this product.

[Moving our headquarters from Seoul to Yeongju.]


From the early days of the brand, Seolarae sold balloon flower root products at various department stores.
At the time of development, in order to find the best balloon flower root,
we personally sourced balloon flower roots from all over the country and compared their quality,
and among them, the balloon flower root from Sobaeksan in Yeongju had the best quality.


This is Farmer Sana, who diligently cultivates the balloon flower roots we use, haha.

So..! Seolarae decided to use only Yeongju Sobaeksan balloon flower roots from now on.
(Yeongju is home to the famous Punggi ginseng, so the quality of root crops there is bound to be excellent.)



However, sadly, despite its high quality, Yeongju balloon flower root lacked recognition.
Because it was not well-known, it could not fetch a fair price and was sold off cheaply at auctions.


While watching this,
we realized that if Seolarae went local, there would be much more we could do,
Thinking that we might be able to help the local community as well


In March 2024, we relocated our headquarters from Seoul to Yeongju.
(In fact, moving to a region where we had no prior ties was not an easy decision …)


[A Chance Encounter Amid Torrential Rain]


In July 2023, while considering relocating our headquarters
There was a day when we visited Yeongju.
We wanted to meet many people to adapt to Yeongju in advance,
But record-breaking torrential rain fell, and all schedules were canceled.


Then we heard that a book club was being held at a local startup space, so we quickly joined,
There, we met a plant researcher.

The person in yellow is that plant researcher.

“I work at a company called Vitrosis,
as a plant researcher,
If you don't have plans tomorrow,
I can show you around the company—would you like to come?”


The next day, I made my way through the torrential rain to visit Vitrosis headquarters.


[A Serene Abandoned School, and Within It, a Cutting-Edge Plant Cloning Research Lab…]

When I arrived at Vitrosis, I saw an abandoned school covered in ivy.
I wondered if I had come to the wrong place, but when I opened the door of the abandoned school and went inside,
a space filled with cutting-edge research equipment unfolded before my eyes.

It used to be like this.And then it became such a wonderful space ...This is Plant Researcher’s laboratory ...!!!



The plant researcher said,


“Actually, this is a company my father founded,
After developing plant cloning technology at the Korea Forest Service,
He went on to develop cultured wild ginseng roots.”



While studying in the Department of Herbal Medicine,The wild ginseng I had only heard of as a legendary herb… That DThat its DNA is being cloned,
(In fact, wild ginseng is so rare that it does not even appear in herbal medicine texts)


The popularization of wild ginseng through cultured wild ginseng roots,
And dreaming of the day it will solve the global food problem for all humanity, As I listened to this vision,
I made a resolution.


[I want to create good products with good companies]

If one day Seolarae comes to be loved by many people,

Even though they have outstanding technology on a global scale,
There are many great companies that are not well known simply because they are regional,
I want to help make them more widely known through collaboration with Seolarae.

I want to develop a great product that reinterprets traditional Korean medicine together with those great companies.



Since that day, I have been in continuous communication with the Plant Research Institute and the Bitrosys research team,
while developing the product over the course of a year.

The optimal formulation we discovered in that way,
is now being introduced through Wadiz.
