Hello, supporter.

User’s Years and life contained in it,A brand that makes sturdy knives, Gabo.

Gabo's knives are not consumables, but become more brilliant the more you use them.Luxury knife.
This Gabo projectis a project inspired by the traditional kitchen knife that has been passed down through 5,000 years of our history, aiming to create a knife that suits our food culture..The traditional knives once used in kitchenswere studied for their shapes and uses, and have been reinterpreted to fit today's cooking environment, resulting in this kitchen knife. 11.gif12-1.pngJapan and Germany have preserved their traditional knife-making techniques and heritageby receiving national support and training to continue their traditional knives and craftsmanship. However, it was truly regrettable that such knives did not exist in our country. So,Creating a sword imbued with the traditional spirit of Korea, Just like other countries,I wanted to continue that legacy.

Crafted from Korea's 5,000-year history,
A kitchen knife that has carried on our culinary culture and traditions,

By reinterpreting the rough design of the old, we have highlighted only the unique advantages of Suksudo,And transformed it into a trendy piece that can blend into 21st-century modern kitchens.

You can fully experience the beauty of form with the unique style and sentiment of Korean tradition, which cannot be found overseas. AndSuksudopossessestraditional culinary culture and heritage, so that it can be passed down,  It was designed with practicality and safety in the kitchen in mind.

Leading the advancement of human civilization,
For the noble spirit of iron culture,
Continuing a 5,000-year history,
Blacksmith,

With the rise of mass production factories, the intangible cultural heritage of our country, passed down through generations, is at risk of disappearing. To continue that spirit, We created the Gabo Edition together with the 'true master' blacksmith Byungjin Jeon, and completed it.

For 40 years, whether in the cold or the heat, striking iron in front of a furnace exceeding 1,200 degrees,The strength and skill acquired by hand are fully embodied in the artisan's knife, boasting a quality incomparable to ordinary knives.

A country is recognizedas a manufacturing powerhouse thanks to the spirit of craftsmanship at its core. In order to spread our nation's outstanding technology to the world, owners of true craftsmanship are essential.

Through our 'Revival of the Disappearing' project, we at Gabo wish to highlight its importance.

Each and every piece,
is crafted entirely by hand,
Artisan's knife

A high-quality blacksmith personally crafts each piece from start to finish with great care, High-end forged masterpiece, knife, The element that proves this, just like a human fingerprint,<Unique pattern of the steel> is present.Because each Gabo knife is handmade, the patterns formed during the polishing process are all different, and unique to each piece.
*Because each is handmade, the weight of each knife may vary.
However,I can say with confidence that only high-quality, expensive steel is used, bearing the artisan's name. We do.

Low-cost stainless steel and
Premium steel of a different class
SUS440C

Premium stainless steel 440C, which contains high carbon, is, as its name suggests, stain-less. Basically, the more carbon it contains, the stronger the steel becomes, but it is more susceptible to corrosion.

SUS440Cis a steel in which the carbon content in stainless iron is high at 0.95%~1.20%, and it has particularly high hardenability. Therefore, to make it less prone to corrosion (stain), chromium and carbon are mixed into the stainless steel.Premium steel with minimized corrosion and extremely high durability Indeed.

*In short, it is a material that alleviates the corrosion, which is a drawback of forged knives, and compensates for the durability of stainless steel blades.
Currently, SUS 440C is sourced from POSCO and is used by only about 2 or 3 blacksmiths in Korea.

SUS440C Among the 440 series, it contains the highest amount of carbon. In addition, it is characterized by its high hardness as a high-chromium martensitic stainless steel, and is widely used as a material for premium kitchen knives.

Among all stainless and heat-resistant steels for high-quality cutting tools, nozzles, and bearings,it is a premium grade steel with the highest hardness.

Hand-forged one by one with a hammer

Machine forging that precisely balances the knife

Hand-forged by striking more than 1,000 times in front of a furnace exceeding 1,200 degrees, hand forging andmachine forging are tasks that require advanced skills to balance the knife.

It is a highly difficult process that requires selecting and evenly widening the steel, and if this process is done carelessly, the blade may become wavy during heat treatment. That is why the blacksmith's craftsmanship is crucial.

To prevent deformation of iron particles due to heat, Gaboe's forging processuses a wet grinding method.Water prevents frictional heat and washes away iron particles, preventing blade deformation caused by irregular grinding. This can be achieved.

Large water whetstone
wet grinding using

The blade of the Gabo Hwanddo Edition is wet-polished.A large whetstone using the old traditional method. was used. Unfortunately, this method, used only by traditional blacksmiths, is disappearing in Korea. However, because it is a difficult and dangerous technique, it is a highly advanced skill used only by true blacksmiths.

Wet whetstone polishing isprevents the blade from heat damage andenables sharp polishingmaking it possible toenhance cutting power and edge retention, a precious traditional technique.

Using a belt sander
Dry polishing

Thick triangular shape
Stable Gabo forged knife

Compared to stainless steel knives, which have very thin and straight blades, the Gabo forged knife has a stable blade with a thick triangular shape that becomes sharper from the spine to the edge.

The blade shape, perfected with Gabo's unique technology, allows for straight slicing, and because it provides stable cutting, there is little risk of slipping and injuring your hand during use. There is a knife that fits your hand. If the weight of the knife does not match when cutting, it puts a lot of strain on your wrist.Typical forged knives have a high carbon content and thick blades, so they are inevitably heavy.

However, Gabo's forged knivesuse Gabo's unique technology to make the blade as thin as possible, significantly reducing the weight. That is why these knives have become favorites among chefs, who are highly satisfied with them.

For high-end furniture
Walnut, mainly used

Made from premium walnutThe walnut-type handle is a hardwood that is ideal for use in kitchens with high moisture.. Walnut, with its dense and hard texture, is not only highly durable but also adds a luxurious wood color, making it a standout item in the kitchen.

Used only by real chefs
The 'king' of woods, ebony

Ebony, the highest grade on the solid wood grading scale crafted fromThe ebony-type handle is the only wood with such high density that it sinks in water.

It is difficult to source the material, and because the wood is extremely hard, it must be meticulously crafted by skilled wood artisans, resulting in a long production period. Thanks to its high resistance to water, it can be used for a long time without deformation. And its uniqueblack wood grain creates a stylish atmosphere.

Hello.
GABO Brand Designer
Park Young-kwang (Team Leader) .

Hello, supporters,
To be honest, I am a typical history enthusiast in Korea..

While I was interested in history and world history, I came across the brand Gabora and found it very fascinating. At the center of much history, there have always been important people known as artisans. The inventions of these artisans have sometimes brought about revolutionary changes in the world. However, as time has passed and mechanization has arrived, many artisans have been replaced by machines, causing their traditions and traces to gradually disappear. However, there are things that machines can never replace.
Master Jeon Byung-in, who aims to create precious items to be passed down for generations. Or the products of CEO Henry of W.Baum, who works with wood, are prime examples.

I have a small hope that these precious items will not be overshadowed by mass-produced, rootless imported products, and will remain as a lasting mark in the history of Korea.
I sincerely hope that every product becomes a family heirloom, and I would like to thank all supporters for reading this long message.

Reason for Wadiz Funding

I wanted to continue the blacksmithing culture where the traditions and culture of Korea are alive and breathing.
Going forward, I decided to participate in Wadiz to introduce Korea's forging culture to a wider audience and further promote Korea's unique iron culture.
