Former Head of Youth Public Institution Operations (2019~2023)

Former Branch Manager and Activist at an International Development Cooperation NGO (2009~2019)

- Planned and managed education and youth support projects in Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, etc.)

For the past 13 years, I have been in numerous fields where I had to contemplate the essence of learning, from the harsh educational environments in Africa to domestic public youth institutions. Although I was grateful to receive honors such as being selected as an Excellent Institution by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and winning the Seoul Universal Design Award, the greatest realization that remained in my heart was'Education must be intuitively connected to the learner's experience.' That was my conclusion.

The beginning of this project was my identity as a mother raising two children in Ghana.

My children, who started attending English classes for the first time in a foreign country with an unfamiliar language and environment due to an unexpected overseas move, faced great difficulties in 'how to understand concepts'.
So Icreated a visually focused poster that can be learned by seeing and speaking directly, put it up in the living room, and made a routine of spending a short time speaking together every day.
That small routine gradually became my child'sconfidence and study habits and,
what started that way became the beginning of this project.

The content that started from 'what my child truly needs' eventually became a tool that many children also truly need, which I realized during the process of creating it.
The experiences I gained in environments where the culture, language, and classroom were all different,
nowlead to learning content made from a mother's perspective, tailored to the child's level, and this is continuing.

Going forward,
I will continue to create a learning environment in daily life that can be seen every day without burden,
practical content made by mothers and used by children,
and keep developing these.

I hope this self-directed kit
gives children their first experience and confidence that 'math and English are not difficult' as a gift.

Q. Reason for choosing Wadiz

For Rahabooks, Wadiz means more than just a simple sales channel. Wadiz isA stage for projects that begin with 'empathy' because of this. It is not just about creating and selling rewards, but about sharing the journey with parents who, like me, are deeply concerned about their children's educational direction. The journey to change learning routines was something I wanted to share together.

The desire to end the daily 'study battles' with children, and the earnest hope that children will discover the joy of learning on their own, is a feeling shared by all parents. We believed that Wadiz is the place where supporters who deeply understand and cheer for these values gather. We planned this funding to meet supporters as partners who communicate and create better educational content together.

Q. Future plans for the use of funding

The valuable support funds you provide will be used transparently and meaningfully to build the 'sustainable educational environment' that Rahabooks dreams of.

FAQ

Q1. How can I make additional purchases after the Wadiz project?
A. After the project ends, you can purchase from the Wadiz Store. However, the reward benefits for this project are limited, and prices and configurations may change for future purchases.

Q2. From what age can it be used?
A. The Lahabooks self-directed learning kit is recommended for children aged 5 to 10. The curriculum is based on the Cambridge Primary Mathematics grades 1 to 3, covering key concepts for lower elementary grades such as basic arithmetic, shapes, measurement, and statistics.

Q3. Can children who are not yet good at writing use it?
A. Yes, they can. Lahabooks applies universal design and is made with a focus on shapes and pictures rather than text. If your child finds writing difficult, start with the poster and daily calendar (which are conversation-based) to begin with 'seeing and speaking,' and then naturally expand to the workbook and concept book.

Q4. Is it okay if my child is slower or faster than other children of the same age?
A. Every child develops at their own pace. Lahabooks is designed so that children can proceed step by step at their own speed, spending just 10 minutes a day. It is possible to learn slowly and repeatedly, or to move quickly to the next stage.

Q5. Can children who are not familiar with English use it?
A. Yes, they can. Since it is mainly picture-based rather than text-based, it stimulates children's imagination and helps them infer, so even children new to English can learn without pressure. It is also designed so that children can naturally learn words and sentences through repeated exposure.

Q6. Can children study on their own without parental help?
A. Lahabooks focuses on a 'self-directed routine' as its core goal. It is structured so that children can experience a sense of achievement by doing it themselves according to the date, even without parents explaining beside them. Of course, starting together with parents at first can help children establish the habit more stably.
