Maker Introduction
Jayeon Gyeongsil is a publishing house affiliated with the Pungseok Cultural Foundation.
We translate, publish, and promote the works left by Pungseok Seo Yu-gu. Since 2016, we have been working on the complete translation project of Imwon Gyeongjeji, which will continue until 2028, and we are the only specialized publisher reviving Seo Yu-gu's achievements in the modern era.

Pungseok Cultural Foundation
People who protect cultures at risk of disappearing
People who are truly dedicated to restoring traditional culture
"The most noble part of Seo Yu-gu's life
is that, as an intellectual, he devoted his entire life with unwavering passion and perseverance
to fully uplifting the lives of the people."
_ Pungseok Cultural Foundation Publisher's Note
In 2003, 42 scholars began translating 'Imwon Gyeongjeji' with only private donations.
A book that no one read for 200 years, the largest encyclopedia of Joseon, with 100,000 manuscript pages.
Although the initial translation process alone cost a total of 1 billion KRW due to the vast volume of ancient documents, this project began with the desperate belief that 'if not now, it will be lost forever.'
And in 2015, to revive culture as a 'living heritage' beyond mere translation, the non-profit foundation 'Pungseok Cultural Foundation' was established with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
From deciphering Joseon Dynasty ancient texts to restoring traditional foods and recording vanishing everyday culture, we create cultural heritage to pass on to the next generation, balancing historical authenticity and modern reinterpretation.
