You can't disguise a low-grade pearl as a Hanadama or a high-grade pearl,but there are no objective standards for grading pearls, and pearl dealers use their own subjective criteria to classify and sell Akoya pearls.

Isn't it the best if a pearl is appraised by a pearl appraisal institute?

There are various pearl appraisal institutes in Korea,but you can't say that a pearl graded at one institute will receive the same grade at another. After visiting several places in person, we found that each appraisal center has different standards, such as focusing on luster or blemishes. While machines are used to check how good the luster or overtone is,unlike diamonds, there are no set standards and the judgment is made by eye, so the grade depends on the appraiser.

Also, when comparing pearls called Hanadama in Korea with luxury brand pearls,most say that the 'famous brand pearls' are graded higher.
