Not just a simple ornament,

Smoke rises, as a brass miniature

reborn.

'Gwangmu' At Gwangmu, we have created countless metal crafts, but for the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner, we erased all previous methods, and developed a method solely for the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner. This was necessary.

Thus, the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner was completed.

Now, the incense burner that shone gold 1,400 years ago comes to you.

[Gilt-bronze Incense Burner Miniature]

Material: Brass
Size: Base to phoenix: 135mm / Lower diameter: 42mm
Weight: 180g

Here is what makes the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner Miniature special!

We partially carved out the ledge supporting the upper part, allowing air to flow in through the gaps even when closed sideways.

In the lower part where the incense cone is placed, there are 8 intake holes on the bottom and 8 on the wall, totaling 16, to ensure continuous oxygen supply and prevent the incense from going out easily.

Since the emission of smoke is just as important as the intake of air, we expanded the size of the smoke vent with each modification to prevent smoke from lingering inside for too long.

Due to the nature of the incense burner, which burns incense with the lid closed, the heat from the incense, resulting steam, and soot accumulate inside. In particular, the phoenix and the mountain ridge area located directly above the smoke vent are especially difficult to clean of soot.

Therefore, the phoenix is designed with a separate screw threadto allow for separation. This was implemented.

[Precautions for Using the Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner]

The incense cone should be placed on the convex center at the bottom before lighting.
Since ash may fall through the air intake, please use a non-flammable plate (ceramic or metal) at the bottom of the incense burner.

While the incense is burning, the upper part becomes very hot, so after the incense is completely extinguished, or if you wish to put out the incense midway, please use thick gloves or a napkin to hold the phoenix's beak and tail to open the top.
*After burning incense, soot may accumulate on the upper rim, so please wipe it off before placing it down or putting it on a plate or tray.

[Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner Exclusive Case]

The Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner miniature is packaged and shipped in a dedicated paulownia wood case.
(*The shape of the case may change in future mass production.)

[Sub Rewards]

1. Baekje Incense Burner Geumgang Bell

Material: Brass
Size: 62mm
Weight: 75g

The Geumgang bell is a bell that is shaken and rung together during prayers, chanting, or practice, and is usually lavishly decorated with auspicious animals, patterns, and guardian deities.

It was created with the idea that its form closely resembles the upper part of the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner, and that the clear sound produced by the brass alloy made for this project is particularly striking.

If you lightly hook your finger on the ring connected to the top and shake it, the weight inside will move and produce a bell sound.
*In the case of the Geumgang bell, the phoenix is fixed and cannot be separated.

If the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner satisfies the senses of sight, smell, and touch, the incense burner Geumgang bell adds the sense of hearing.

[Baekje Incense Burner Geumgang Bell Case]

The Baekje Incense Burner Geumgang bell is packaged and delivered in a dedicated paulownia wood case.
(*The shape of the case may change during mass production.)

2. Gilt-bronze Incense Burner Ring

Material: 925 sterling silver
Width: 7mm
Available sizes: KS15~21
(For sizes below 15 or above 21, the pattern becomes severely distorted and cannot be produced.)

This reward features animals, mountains, immortals, trees, and rocks from the upper part of the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner, reinterpreted as a 2D pattern and engraved all around the silver ring.

The five musicians and birds located at the very top of the upper mountains are placed in the blank spaces where the engraving starts and ends, so they can be seen when the ring is rotated 180 degrees.

The Gilt-bronze Incense Burner silver ring is packaged and delivered in a dedicated ring case as shown above.

[Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner/Gilt-Bronze Bell Precautions]

As these are produced using a casting method, fine bumps, bubbles, etc. may be observed, and in the finishing process, soldering may be applied to areas with larger dents, which may appear silver in color.

[Precautions When Using Metal Products]

Among the rewards provided to supporters, the Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner Miniature and Baekje Incense Burner Bell are made of brass, which is an alloy of copper and zinc, while the Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner Ring is made of sterling silver, which is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper.

# Why Wadiz?

Hansung Art has presented more than 30 projects on Wadiz so far.
In all projects conducted under the common theme of "Reinterpreting Korean relics and heritage," many supporters participated in the funding and gave positive feedback even after the rewards were delivered. In addition, there has been great interest in the subsequent activities of Hansung Art.

To welcome the 26th spring, we have launched this project to create incense burners and bells under the theme 'Masterpieces of Baekje People: Fragrance and Sound.'

*The funds raised from this project will later be used for projects that create miniatures of Korea's cultural heritage.
