The background for preparing this project is,
"After 30 years since returning home, I have dreamed of a 'Korean Walden' while walking around the Mojung Village Lake."

(Mojung Lake, which covers 50,000 pyeong, is a 5-minute walk east from Hanok Stay Wolindang. The trail around the lake is 2 km long, and there are places like Wonpungjeong Pavilion and Sunrise and Moonrise Hills where you can enjoy the sunrise and moonrise over Wolchulsan Mountain.)
It has been nearly 30 years since I left city life and returned to my hometown. Just as Henry David Thoreau sought the essence of life by Walden Pond, I too have refined my thoughts while strolling around Mojung Lake during my rural life, quietly recording the hidden values in the simple life of the countryside. In 2021,<Mojung Village Story> and the essay collection published earlier this year,<Fields Without Heat Haze> are records of daily life and reflections from 30 years of returning to the countryside, born from this foundation.

My past years have also been a journey ofcoexistence and exchange between city and countryside, andbuilding a warm village community where people meet each other.
Breathing life into the village: As a hometown village activist, I have gathered the will of residents for 10 years to hold seasonal festivals and built over 20 hanok houses, developing the area into a 'hanok-style happy village.' Now, it has become a village where retired city residents return, and in recognition of these efforts, in 2015,the Jeonnam Governor's Award and in 2023,the 10th National Happy Rural Village Creation Silver Prize (Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award)Awarded Award and achieved this meaningful accomplishment.
Continuing the breath of tradition: For 20 years, we have consistently operated the 'Wolindang' Hanok Stay, maintaining exchanges with city residents, and through the Namdo Tea Culture Education Center, we have shared the profound taste and elegance of our traditional tea.

"Since 2006, Wolindang has been a quiet retreat where city dwellers can set aside their busyness and stay in comfort. Over 20 years, I have personally cared for every wooden pillar and every lattice window, creating a space where the dignity of traditional hanok and modern comfort coexist."
With the same heart that has conveyed the deep flavor of our tea through the Namdo Tea Culture Education Center, I will offer supporters who visit here a neat place to rest and the breath of a warm cup of tea."
Recording the disappearing cultural history of my hometown: I have continued to visit various villages in Yeongam, researching and documenting the region's history and culture. As a result of 20 years of research on my hometown after returning, in 2021,<The Story of Mojung Village>(366p) was published, and 'For 10 years, I have serialized village travel essays every week in the 'Yeongam Newspaper' and continue to do so. Thiscontribution to local history research was recognized by the Yeongam Cultural Center,2023 Culture and Arts Awardwas received.

< A record of the village community born from 20 years of research,"The Story of Mojung Village" 2021/ Book Lab>

<Part of a review on the back cover of The Story of Mojung Village book >
At the heart of all these activities have always been 'recording' and 'communication.' The humble daily life I have cultivated while raising children in the countryside, my deep affection for traditional culture, and my sincere dedication to the local community are now being captured in the essay collection audiobook <Fields Without Heat Haze> and the 'Wednesday Walden' literary stay.

(Spring at Wolindang, in full bloom with cherry blossoms)
Rather than simply being a place to stay, I want to invite you into the life of a writer condensed over 30 years. I hope you will join me for tea, share sentences, walk by the lake, and discover the precious 'Walden' within us.
The valuable support funds collected through this campaign will be used meaningfully as follows.
Materializing the records: Preparation for purchasing additional copies and autographing the author's books <Fields Without Heat Haze> and <Stories of Mojung Village>, filled with the author's warmth, as well as capturing the beautiful scenery of WolindangProduction of 'Four Seasons Scenery Postcards' will be funded. These postcards will be used during the literary stay for writing letters to oneself or sending greetings to loved ones.

Heartfelt hospitality: The funds will be used to procure ingredients for a refined homemade breakfast, such as three-color rice cake soup, for supporters visiting Wolindang, and to prepare locally sourced specialty teas for sharing tea with the author.
The author's roots are embedded in the antique tea room, 'Old House'
In the upper yard of Wolindang, there is a small, old country house where I was born and lived together with my grandmother, father, and mother. Although its exterior looks old and shabby, to me, it is a space filled with my most precious memories and a secret place.
For supporters participating in this project, I will open the tea room of this old house. Here, you will have time to share breakfast and morning tea and wrap up your schedule.
An old house where time stands still, a space where art and contemplation bloom inside When you open the shabby door and step inside, you are greeted by walls filled with landscape paintings and the fragrant aroma of green tea. The tea room of this old house, where I was born and raised, will now become a calm and quiet place to share tea and heartfelt conversations with you.Maintaining a space for rest and contemplation: While preserving the tranquility of the 20-year-old hanok, I will carefully use the funds to maintain the garden and further improve the comfort of the hanok's rest areas so that you will not experience any inconvenience during your stay.

I will continue to preserve the tranquility of Wolindang, a hanok that has embraced 20 years of time. So that supporters can forget the busyness of daily life and immerse themselves in contemplation, I will carefully use the funds to maintain the spacious lawn garden and further improve the comfort of the hanok's rest areas. Discover your own 'Walden' in this space where time seems to stand still.
Ultimately, your support goes beyond simply purchasing a product; it helps preserve the records of a disappearing rural life and'Cultural solidarity' where cities and rural areas connect through literature It is a great source of strength that keeps us going.
This project we are presenting this time has such a story.
1. Two copies of the author's signed book & Four Seasons Landscape Postcards

<Essay Collection Publisher's Review>
This book is composed of four parts: spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and contains a total of 30 essays. The prologue and epilogue decorate the beginning and end of this essay collection.
A record of 30 years of contemplationPaper book I will carefully write your name in the paper book. Also, the record I personally wrote,Four Seasons Landscape Postcards of Wolindang will become a precious medium for recording memories of the literary stay.
2. 5.5 hours of literary sanctuary, specially produced audiobook
I have captured the author's breath in my voice, which could not be fully conveyed through text alone.

This audiobook is not simply a service that reads the book aloud. It has been carefully restructured to offer you the most perfect 'walk you can listen to'.
[New Composition] Value beyond the paper book: Some essays from the paper book have been adjusted to match the flow of the audiobook, and instead,A new essay, 'The Day I Had My First Child,' which is not in the paper book, has been newly included as the second track in the spring section.. This is the author's most personal confession, available only in the audiobook.
[Author's Own Reading] A voice that conveys sincerity: The beginning and end of the projectPrologue and Epilogue, along with 10 deeply resonant poems, 'The Day I Had My First Child' filled with the excitement of spring, and 'To My Longed-for Friend' capturing the essence of autumn, are read by the author with heartfelt sincerity, word by word.
[AI Cloning] Uninterrupted Flow of Thought: The author's real voice was meticulously trained with cloning voice technology introduced. This audiobook was carefully recorded and edited by the professional studio 'Studio Summer,' delivering a high-quality listening experience with the author's heartfelt narration. Thanks to this, the author's tone of voice is maintained throughout the long journey of 5.5 hours, providing a comfortable listening experience as if the author is speaking right beside you.
On your way to Wolindang, or even amidst the busyness of daily life, take a moment for yourself. The moment you put on your earphones, wherever you are becomes the tranquil 'Walden.'
3. Wednesday's Walden: Literary Stay for 6 Guests

"On the quietest Wednesday of the week, you are invited to a refined tea table prepared exclusively for six guests. From April 22 to June 24, the event will be held every Wednesday for a total of 10 sessions over two months.. Those who have listened to the audiobook in advance will sit together in the numaru, sharing deep conversations and tea, and even participate in a sunrise meditation to receive the energy of Mt. Wolchul. A night at Wolindang will be more than just an overnight stay—it will be a time of 'literary solidarity' to comfort and encourage each other's lives."
The three special features unique to 'Wednesday's Walden'
① [Small Group] An intensive time of rest and exchange allowed only for 3 teams (6 people)
This is not simply an overnight stay to fill rooms. On the quiet Wednesday of the week, we welcome only three teams of up to two people each (6 people total). This is the ideal number to drink tea with the author, read sentences aloud, and share impressions of the audiobook you listened to in advance. Experience a 'literary solidarity' that is free from the gaze of others, just for us.
② [Pet Friendly] Hanok stay with your dog
Wolindang respects dogs as family. The spacious yard provides a comfortable playground and resting area for your dog as well. Participate in the literary stay program with your dog and enjoy a meaningful night sharing the preciousness of life in nature. (For small dogs, pet etiquette required)

"Warmer because you are not alone, the yard of Wolindang"
Just like the peacefulness of the yard in the photo, we welcome tranquil walks with your beloved dog. Please bring only your 'pet etiquette' to harmoniously respect the contemplation of other supporters.
[Guide for Accompanying Dogs]
"Wolindang aims for coexistence with pets, but values everyone's 'contemplation' and 'rest' even more."
A night at Wolindang, the space of a writer returning after 30 years, is more than just a stay.A time for exchange and sharing awaits you. Please check the followingpet companion rules to ensure everyone can have a peaceful time.
For small dogs only: One small dog under 10kg can stay for free. (Only one dog per team allowed)

C. Wadiz Exclusive First Release, <A Field Without Heat Haze> Audiobook Single (Digital Delivery): Regular price 19,000 KRW
[Audiobook Only] Track 2: "The Day I Had My First Child"
"A moving human story experienced by a soon-to-be father 30 years ago."
A most intimate and honest confession by author Kim Chang-oh, not included in the paperback, is exclusively revealed in Track 2 of the audiobook.
A tense day for a clumsy father: Labor pains for his wife began suddenly at dawn on a Saturday, two weeks earlier than the due date. Taking things too lightly, he failed to prepare even a single set of baby clothes, got scolded by the nurse at the maternity hospital, and made the shop owner flustered at the baby goods store he rushed to. The author vividly narrates the tense day of a soon-to-be father in his own voice.
The tension and anxiety of watching the uphill path of labor: The uphill path of labor that women must overcome to become mothers. While men, who make up half the world, can never experience that pain, they watch and reflect painfully on the absurdities of a world that disregards life and perpetuates war.
Bringing life into an absurd world: "Is it really okay to have a child in such a competitive and absurd society?" This is the story of a young man who, while questioning, encounters his baby's kicks in the womb and, through prenatal education, transforms vague fears into conviction and responsibility into awe in a process of self-revolution.
A father's first steps, clumsy but honest: Even the embarrassing moment of being scolded by a nurse for not preparing baby supplies becomes an honest confession of becoming a 'real adult' by boiling a newborn's undershirt for the life about to be born.
Only in the audiobook: Do not miss the trembling and emotion of that day, which could not be fully captured in print, and the wondrous and mysterious moment of birth, told directly in the voice of author Kim Chang-oh.

Hello, supporters! This is Maker Changoh Kim.

"A person who records the breath of his hometown and shares the warmth of tea, I am Changoh Kim, the owner of 'Wolindang.'"
Nice to meet you.I am Changoh Kim, a writer who has lived for 30 years in Mojung Village, where you can see Mt. Wolchul in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, writing and running the hanok stay 'Wolindang.'.In the spring of 1998, after returning to my hometown with my family, I have lived as a village activist and local historian, preserving and recording the value of our rural community..
<Yeongam Mojung Village Wolindang, in the writer's study>
"I will live in Mojung, my study that became the foundation of 30 years of records."
This is where I settled after leaving my life in Seoul 30 years ago. The phrase 'I will live in Mojung,' hanging on the wall of my study, became more than a simple resolution—it became the compass of my life.
Here, I have recorded the history of the village ('The Story of Mojung Village') and gathered fragments of thought while gazing at Mojung Lake and the fields ('Fields Without Heat Haze'). The sentences I share are records refined and polished in this quiet study, imbued with the scent of my hometown's soil and the mist of the lake.
I want to share the warmth of this space, where all the stories of Wolindang began, with you through books and stays.
An activist in action: By joining forces with the villagers, I have led projects to revitalize my hometown and have taken the lead in reviving the warmth of disappearing rural communities. I persuaded residents to build more than 20 hanok houses and developed the village, and for these achievements, I received the Jeonnam Governor's Award in 2015 and won the Silver Prize as Jeonnam's representative village activist at the 10th Happy Rural Village Making Contest in 2023..
1. A village activist recognized nationwide
"Jeollanam-do's leading village activist achieves the nation's second place (Silver Award)"
In the 2023 10th Happy Rural Village Making Contest, we received the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award (Silver Award) in the Outstanding Activist category. From village design to communication with former residents, and running cultural and artistic programs—the ten-year journey of preserving the original form of Mojung Village and reviving the value of community has been selected as one of the best cases nationwide.

<Banner introducing Outstanding Activist Kim Chang-oh in front of the 2023 10th Happy Rural Village Making Contest venue>
2. Records of trust built layer by layer
<Mojung Village Story, p.195>
"Records are honest. The changes and records of trust in Mojung Village are more valuable than any award."
From the Jeollanam-do Governor's Commendation in 2015, to the Grand Prize at the 1st Jeonnam Village Forest Contest in 2016, and the Special Award at the 2020 Village Story Expo. All the programs provided to supporters staying at Wolindang are the essence of local content, refined through numerous verifications and awards.
3. A practitioner who finds answers in the field
<Source: Mojung Village Story, p.159>
"Living not just as a writer at a desk, but as an activist in the field"
By hosting national village-making network dialogue meetings, I have been contemplating the future of rural areas where people return. The books I published, 'Mojung Village Story' and the new work 'Fields Without Heat Haze,' are sentences drawn directly from the intense field of practice.
Writer who records: For over ten years, I have explored every corner of the village, serializing village travel essays in the <Yeongam Newspaper> every week, and as a local history researcher at the Yeongam Cultural Center, I have co-authored in-depth books on the region's culture and history such as <Pavilions of Yeongam> (2023), <Classical Literature of Wolchulsan> (2024), and <Place Names of Yeongam> (2025).
Sharing host: By running Wolindang and the 'Namdo Tea Culture Education Center,' I have shared the beauty of our traditional tea., and now, in the space I love, Wolindang, I dream of literary solidarity with you.
Just like the saying, "It is only spring when flowers bloom,", through this project, I will become a devoted host who brings a warm spring flower to bloom in your heart..

<Wolindang June garden. > If you want to see butterflies, plant flowers. If you want to hear birds, plant trees. If you miss people, tend to a garden.>
Reason for visiting Wadiz: The 'cultural solidarity' we cultivate together.
"As rural villages disappear, your support enables exchange and coexistence between cities and the countryside."
The records I have written over 30 years in Mojung Village are not just my own. They are stories of our shared hometown and the 'essence of life' we have forgotten.
Instead of choosing a typical sales method, crowdfunding is the approach I chose because ofthree reasons.
For records that communicate: A paper book may end its encounter with readers once it is placed on a bookstore shelf. But on Wadiz, I can share my voice through the audiobook and meet and converse directly through 'Wednesday's Walden.' Rather than a one-way delivery, I hope this becomes a story 'completed together' with supporters.
For a sustainable rural cultural ecosystem: The precious funds raised through this campaign will not be used solely for production costs. They will be used to renovate the 20-year-old hanok 'Wolindang' and to create 'cultural self-sufficiency' that allows us to continue recording the disappearing history and culture of the village. Your funding becomes a valuable investment in preserving the value of rural areas.
For a warm connection between city and countryside: Each supporter who listens to the audiobook and visits Wolindang is a precious 'cultural ally' to me. I dream that the strong bonds formed through crowdfunding will become a new model for literary exchange between cities and rural areas.
"I hope that my 30-year homecoming diary will not be a period, but the first new sentence we write together." If I have quietly lived the life of a village activist alone for 30 years, dreaming of coexistence and exchange between city and countryside, now I want to walk this path together with Wadiz supporters. I hope that this 'cultural solidarity' we cultivate together will become a seed that breathes new vitality into disappearing rural villages.
Your support is not simply purchasing a product, but discovering the hidden value of rural areas and filling them with cultural fragrance.'Co-maker' This is what you become.
"Will you dream a new dream called 'Wednesday's Walden' with me?" Please lend your precious support so that our rural villages can become someone's cherished hometown and a rich literary field for everyone.
<Autumn in the Fields of Mojung Village Where a Rainbow Appeared>
"A declining countryside, but we still have a rainbow to protect."
People say everyone is leaving the countryside. But here in Mojung Village, there are still people cultivating the soil and nurturing life, and after the rain, a vivid rainbow colors the fields.
The reason I turned my back on Seoul and took root here 30 years ago was because I believed in the value of 'living together' embodied in this beautiful landscape.
Now, the countryside is facing a quiet crisis. The records of the village are being lost, and fewer people are visiting.Your funding goes beyond simply a book or a single stay, and becomes a precious spark that connects the fading breath of our countryside and raises a new rainbow of hope. It becomes that.
Like the poetry of William Wordsworth,Does your heart still race when you see a rainbow? If so,please become a supporter who helps protect the rainbow of Mojung Village.. The rainbow is hope itself, and it is the path of life and peace that we must walk hand in hand. Let's go together.
