What is the Book of Shadows?

The Book of Shadows, or sometimes translated as the Book of the Other Side, is a ritual record and personal practice journal actually used by Wiccans and many other occult practitioners. It is a record of practice, carefully compiled with ritual texts, prayers, important dates and symbols, instructions for using tools, and even personal experiences.

According to tradition, the Book of Shadows disappears along with its owner when they leave this world.  For this reason, in the past, it was often burned, buried, or deliberately destroyed so that others could not read it. As a result, the records that remain today are often incomplete from the start, have missing sections, or contain intentionally left blank pages.

In one person's notebook, a protection ritual is written in just three lines: "Close the door, light the fire, call the name." The following pages are torn out, and there is no explanation as to why this order was chosen or what else should be done.

On the other hand, another record contains the same type of ritual in excessive detail. The procedure is densely written, such as sprinkling salt on the threshold, circling water three times, placing candles in four directions, and repeating a specific phrase, ending with the requirement to open the window at the end. Even though both are protection rituals, one remains like a code, while the other preserves every step.

'Materials' This section presents all the essential ingredients needed for the ritual. For example, when making 'Come to Me Oil,' a fragrance-based oil that attracts good feelings and brings people closer, rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, patchouli, cinnamon, and vanilla are carefully used, along with red rose petals and raw rose quartz.
Of course, the meaning of each ingredient is also explained. Taking 'Come to Me Oil' as an example, which tightly binds emotions, rose acts as the solid core ingredient that draws in feelings, while jasmine gently expands those emotions. Cinnamon serves as a stimulant to speed up the flow, and patchouli has the property of anchoring the gathered emotions so they do not scatter into the air. Vanilla helps round out and stabilize the overall scent.

When I was young, there was something like this in a fantasy novel I read. I can't remember the title of the novel no matter how hard I try. When the protagonist was young, he constantly heard his mother nagging, "Wash behind your ears when you wash your face."
But it turned out that this nagging was actually a protective spell.
This part stuck with me so much that I don't remember the plot, only that part.

I decided to do what I love. That is, to create narratives in dramas, movies, novels, documentaries, biographies, and reportage. It was not an easy task. Who would entrust their manuscript to a one-person publishing company starting without any capital?

So I planned a project that I could do. The project I devoted myself to day and night was <Korea Crime Archive>. While working on the project, I truly felt like I was losing my soul. Collecting countless shocking crimes, my body and mind became exhausted. Still, I wasn't as depressed as before. Because it was something I loved, I was able to work even harder.

This time, I am venturing into the occult field. Since the occult is a field I have been as interested in as crime, I worked hard to collect materials to confidently present it to the world.

From now on, Arkplot will steadily provide you with narratives that you can read all night long.

The reason for running the project on Wadiz

While working at a publishing company, I became quite disillusioned with the existing book market.

First, that market favors publishers with capital. Good authors, talented staff, massive marketing. The bigger the company, the more they focus on sales. Creativity is needed for good planning, and that's how you make money, but in reality... you end up looking for bestselling authors first.

Second, no matter how much I wanted to pursue a project, I couldn't. Even if there are only a few readers, it's enough to publish a book, but I found myself calculating profits and losses first. My body and mind were exhausted, but after enduring for over ten years, I finally reached a point where I couldn't move either, and that's when I started 'Arcplot'.

That's why I came to Wadiz to find people who would support this project.
