About the authors
Daniel Wallace
Daniel Wallace, author and co-author of over 50 books including <Jedi Path>, <Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History>, <Warcraft: Behind the Dark Portal>, <Star Wars: Lightsaber Collection>, and the New York Times bestseller <Star Wars: The New Essential Character Guide>, is dedicated to introducing the diverse and fascinating settings of fiction to the public.
Matt Reeves
Born in Rockville Centre, New York, and raised in Los Angeles, California. He began making films at the age of eight, directing his friends' performances and filming them with a wind-up camera. At thirteen, he met J.J. Abrams, who became his close friend of the same age, and together they produced short films that aired on the public access cable channel Z Channel. Around the age of fifteen, director Steven Spielberg entrusted them with transporting and editing Super 8mm film tapes. Spielberg recognized their potential after seeing a film they shot with a Super 8mm camera and submitted to a film festival.
In 2008, he directed the monster movie "Cloverfield," which he planned with J.J. Abrams. Abrams produced the film, and in 2016, Reeves participated as a producer in the sequel, making it a two-part series.
In 2010, he wrote and directed "Let Me In," a remake of the Swedish novel about vampires by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the Swedish film "Let the Right One In" (2008) directed by Tomas Alfredson.
In 2014, he directed and released "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," the sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011). He also directed the third sequel, "War for the Planet of the Apes" (2017).
In 2022, he directed "The Batman." A trilogy for "The Batman" has been confirmed.
Todd Phillips
Starting his career with documentary filmmaking, he mainly directed comedies such as "The Hangover," "Due Date," and "War Dogs," before taking on his first non-comedy film, "Joker," which became the first comic book adaptation to win the Golden Lion. When asked why he suddenly made a film like "Joker" after directing comedies, he said in an interview that he wanted to make boundary-pushing comedies like "The Hangover," but recent society has become too sensitive to political correctness, which led to his decision.
He is a director with a very high box office success rate, and except for a few works after the success of "Road Trip," every film he directed, like "The Hangover," has been a huge hit. "Joker" also earned $1 billion in revenue on a $55 million budget.
