Framing Production Guide

Frames are not included in the reward.

However, I believe that a framed work is the final exhibition form in which the piece is presented.

ใ€ŽElephant Gardenใ€ collaborated with a fine art framing studio in Chungmuro, Seoul to design a frame specification suitable for the work, and showcased frames made to this standard at the Ryugaheon exhibition. At that time, we also connected those who wished with frames of the same specification.

- For collector's print: approximately 270 ร— 307 mm
- For artist's print: approximately 515 ร— 450 mm

Each is made with a walnut frame and museum board as standard, and finished to exhibition standards with either regular glass or non-reflective glass depending on the work. (Small print frames can be produced for around 100,000 KRW, and large print frames for around 350,000 KRW.) If you wish, we will provide separate guidance so you can have a frame made to the same specifications, and production can be arranged individually.

We will be with you until the end to ensure your work is presented in the best possible way.

Hello. I am photographer Taehee Park.

[Maker Photo]

There were two decisive reasons that led me to revisit my photographs from Africa 16 years ago.

The first was an email. After publishing my first photo book in 2011, I discovered a message from 'Frank,' a friend of my mentor, in my inbox, which I checked belatedly. It was a warm message of encouragement, saying he was looking forward to my next work. I hurriedly replied, but the news I received through my mentor was devastating. Frank was already unable to read my letter due to dementia. That was the first time I truly realized that for some things, 'later' is not always an option.

The second was an unnamed CD. When I happened to play the CD, the rough sound of a piano flowed out. Old memories of holding a recorder in a New York concert hall, the air and light of that day, and the presence of someone beside me all came rushing back. But the person with whom I shared that precious moment is no longer in this world. If I had not recorded it then, that memory would have been lost forever.

These two events posed the same question to me.

"What am I leaving behind?"

At the end of that question, I took out the photos of Africa that had been sleeping in my external hard drive for a long time. Although those moments have already passed, there were still moments within them that must be preserved before they disappear.

The original title I had in mind was "In the Darkness," but near the end of editing, I happened to find a short poem while organizing an old notebook. It was a poem that even the author could not remember where it was read or who wrote it. After much inquiry with professors, critics, and poets, no one knew the original author. Even AI could not provide an answer, making this poem feel like 'a gift that fell from the sky just for this book.' The poem's title, 'Elephant Garden,' became the name of this book.

"When I started taking photos, studying photography for me meant looking through photo books. Opening a photo book unfolded a completely different world, as if walking in a dream, escaping the current space and time."

Reason for choosing Wadiz

While running an independent publishing house and making books, I have deeply realized that no matter how carefully a book is made, its value cannot be fully conveyed if it does not meet readers.

I believe Wadiz is not just a sales channel, but a platform where the process of a work meeting readers for the first time can be shared. Since 'Elephant Garden' is a project that must convey not only the final product but also the process and meaning behind its creation, I determined that Wadiz funding is the most suitable method for this structure. Another important reason for this choice was the ability to connect with a diverse range of readers who would have been difficult to reach through traditional distribution.

Through this project, I hope to share my work with more people and create opportunities to experience the process of making a book together.

Future plans for the use of funding

The photobook for this project has already been completed, and the funds will be used to ensure the quality and safe delivery of the rewards.

Packaging production
Special packaging will be produced to ensure that the works and books are delivered without damage.

Inspection and packaging
All rewards will be inspected by the artist before shipping and then packaged.

Shipping and logistics costs
Funds will be used for packaging and overall logistics to ensure safe delivery.
