"Returning to the Fundamentals"

This is the title of the last content in a book I read recently.

It left a strong impression on me because it resonated with the reasons, process, and concerns behind creating Ectopure.

It questions the latest trends, replication, and efficiency promoted by AI society, and reflects on returning to the essence in an era where the virtual replaces reality.

- It was about Fundamentalism (Returning to the Fundamentals) -

I was surprised because it was exactly the same as the direction I had envisioned for Ectopure.

Ultimately, where Ectopure is headed is also the "beginning."

What we are talking about is not being "the same" as others, but being "different," not "replication," but "the first."

The "beginning" that Ectopure seeks topreserve isthe "beginning" as the start of timeandthe "beginning" as the essence of existence.

Therefore, Ectopure is the ‘first’ in K-beauty to contain 7% of the ingredient ‘Ectoin’,and

aims to create and preserve the most fundamental ‘beginning’ of skincare, which is moisturization and UV protection.

Having been in the cosmetics industry for over 20 years, I have witnessed countless cosmetics being created and disappearing repeatedly.

Even now, there are countless types of products we encounter.

The adventure began with the desire to add 'difference' among the replicas that were created following trends, only with different brand names.

After moving from a brand company to a cosmetics vendor, I introduced several brands overseas and tried almost every product out there.

In short, I am someone with a discerning and demanding eye for products.

Fortunately or unfortunately, my skin type is also not easy to please, just like its owner, making it perfect for testing.

Simply put, my skin is sensitive and prone to breakouts.

I first encountered ectoine last spring.

My first meeting with a transparent bottle labeled 'Ectoine 7%' (sample) was intense, and I think that's when it all started.

Sample testing began with my whole family and acquaintances, and we all became captivated by ectoine's moisturizing effect.

Visible hydration with the effect of calming skin troubles.

While searching through research papers, I found that the two main causes of skin aging are moisture loss and skin barrier damage from UV exposure.

I became convinced that 'ectoine' is the most effective ingredient to overcome these two issues.

That is how I gradually became obsessed with ectoine.

But wait a minute!!

If this ingredient is so good, why has it been so hard to find cosmetics containing ectoine?

The reason, as expected, was the high cost of the raw material.

While searching for products, I found that even if ectoine was included in domestic products, it was only in very small amounts, at most 2%.

Already obsessed with ectoine, I put aside concerns about raw material costs.

Instead, I requested a sample with about 10% ectoine, wondering if my face would be drenched in moisture.

Dudung!!!

Surprisingly, the result was not as moving as 7%.

Just as 6-year-old red ginseng is the most effective, we learned through sample testing that everything has its proper timing and optimal ratio.

From the very beginning of our research and development, we were told that the cost of raw materials was too high and there was no marketability.

We overcame the temptation and pressure to reduce the ratio like other brands and brought it to the world.

Even if the business did not succeed, we kept the 7% with the thought that our family would use it.

The background for preparing this project is,

"There are so many ingredients advertised as good...
Why is the content always in small print?"

Retinol, PDRN, exosome, cica, ceramide...
Trendy ingredients keep changing, but when you actually use them:

They're too heavy or
Too stinging,
Feels good for a few days, then becomes dry again,
There were many cases where it was just a name with no real effect.

This was especially true for creams applied at night.

Under the name of "nourishment," it felt too heavy,
Or under the name of "functionality," it was too irritating.

So we thought in the exact opposite way.

"Skin must feel comfortable to last long."

And the ingredient we chose as the answer
Was none other than 'Ectoin.'

An ingredient produced by microorganisms to protect themselves in extreme environments.
And then we asked ourselves another question.

"But... why does everyone use so little?"

So we began.

While others use it just as a concept,
We decided to use an amount you can actually feel.

That is how this project was born.

This project we are presenting has this story.

1. Instead of just saying "We added Ectoin," we put in 7%.

In fact, ectoine is a very expensive ingredient.

That is why most products
use it in amounts just enough to say it is "included."

However, we chose tangible results over concept.

We considered the process where the skin becomes dry and breaks down,
the barrier becomes sensitive,
and eventually, even elasticity decreases.

So we boldly
included 7% ectoine.

2. We wanted to include retinal, but make it "not scary."

You have probably heard a lot about how good retinal is.

But in reality:

It stings,
it dries out your skin,
causes flakiness,
and you end up giving up…

This is a very common path.

So Ectopure thought.

"Instead of a product you have to endure and tolerate,
let's make a product you want to keep using."

Formulated with 7% ectoine.
We balanced it so your skin doesn't feel overwhelmed overnight.

3. It's a night cream... but lighter than you might expect.

This aspect may be a matter of personal preference.

Because some people
think "night cream = must be very heavy and thick."

But we saw it differently.

Especially for Asian skin and humid environments,
an overly heavy cream can actually make daily use difficult.

So Ectopure is:

Less stuffy,
Long-lasting hydration,
A texture that allows for multiple thin layers,

which is what we aimed for.

we focused more on ingredients and texture than flashy marketing.

But we didn't like that "moderate" approach.

That's why, for this project,
We wanted to see how a product truly made with care for the skin would be received in the market,
And we wanted to check it first with Wadiz supporters.

"Why go this far?"
