Toolbox Workshop
is based on CNC and produces props for blockbuster historical films,
Industry-leading global OTT historical drama props, independent films,
CFs, public arboretum exhibition sculptures,
Hi-fi full-range back-loaded horn passive speakers,
Interior design for over 30 daycare centers in Daejeon and Sejong regions,
Custom-made solid wood furniture, etc.
We have carried out a variety of projects.

This project is based on such real production experience.
From requests, estimates, design, processing, finishing, to delivery for all woodworking tasks using CNC,
This is a course where you receive hands-on skills training 1:1 offline.

Course Information
The offline 1:1 CNC woodworking education curriculum
is as follows.
This course consists of a total of 12 sessions over about 3 months.
It is an offline 1:1 hands-on training program.
This is not just a class to learn how to use a program,
but covers understanding CNC equipment, tool selection, drawing design, toolpaths,
actual machining, assembly, finishing, estimating, and even workshop management,
addressing each step of the workflow needed in real production sites.
It's okay if you don't know anything.
In fact, beginners have no preconceptions and mutual trust is
easily established, so there is no problem with the training.
Also, Tool Box Workshop has taught dozens of people one-on-one,
regardless of gender, from their 20s to 70s.
It's okay even if you are not familiar with computers.
During one-on-one training, the keyboard, mouse, and main unit
are shared via a KVM computer,
and the class is conducted this way.
Supporters can simply look at their own monitor
and follow along with all the class content,
while the maker, by looking at their own monitor,
can watch all the supporter's work in real time,
and meticulously guide them in real time,
teaching step by step as if explaining the basics,
throughout the process.
Don't be afraid to handle CNC.
From computer program training to operating the CNC,
We are always by your side until you can do it on your own.
We teach you step by step, one thing at a time.
Because it is one-on-one training, pressing the operation button won't feel scary,
as we teach you repeatedly until you are comfortable.
The weekly class content is as follows.
Session 1.
Understanding CNC and workshop equipment / Basic shape cutting
In the first session, before starting CNC woodworking,
we first cover an overview of the essential equipment,
and the structure of workshop operations.
Which CNC you should purchase,
which equipment you should avoid,
what to check when looking at Chinese-made equipment,
and how to handle ventilation, dust collection, layout, and dust issues,
are all covered based on real experiences from running an actual workshop.
This is the foundation of the course.
We also provide training on CNC controllers.
Mach3, DDCS, NC Studio, DSP, bolang v4
Among the items frequently used on site,
We will actually handle about three of them.
The basic interface and operating principles
are mostly similar,
so if you thoroughly understand one CNC controller,
you can also handle other equipment
without much difficulty.
We will also explain the types of CAD/CAM programs used
and the criteria for selecting them.
Starting from what specifications of computer are the minimum
required to run CAD/CAM,
to which programs are used,
and how to consider each subscription fee,
we will find the common denominators that connect several programs, laser engravers, and 3D printers,
and identify these connections.
After understanding how woodworking design and toolpath creation
are connected,
you will directly experience and repeatedly practice the CNC workflow
through basic shape cutting.
The goal is to have you operate the CNC yourself from the first day.
Session 2.
Basic Processing Advanced / Profile, V-Carving, Drilling, Female Processing
In the second session, we will repeatedly practice the most fundamental CNC woodworking processing methods.
You will repeatedly practice these processing methods.
Profile processing, v-carving, drilling, and female processing are included in this session.
If you properly learn when each processing method is used,
it is almost the same as mastering everything needed for CNC processing.
It is equivalent to learning almost everything required for CNC processing.
It does not simply end with cutting,
but aims to help you understand the processing flow just before making parts.
The goal is to understand the processing flow right before creating parts.
There are mainly four types of bits that are frequently used,
including straight bits, up-cut bits, compression bits, and special bits such as v-carving bits.
Using these bits, you will learn the basic processing flow,
along with tool selection, step-down, step-over, feed, plunge,
spindle speed, and damping processing, while listening to the theory and practicing.
You will also check how the results differ depending on these factors.
Through curved surface processing in the shape of a bowl, you will learn about router work and
the differences between CNC processing, the reasons for double-sided processing,
and about double-sided processing as well.
We will explain step by step and practice together.
Session 3.
Nameplate production / Letter processing, three-dimensional expression, laser engraving.
In the third session, we will use CNC in interior design.
We will create the most common project, "nameplate accessories."
Based on the cutting techniques learned so far,
we will compare and practice various production methods.
The first method is to carve the wood itself to make the letters and background
three-dimensional in 2D.
The second method uses 3D processing to create the shape of the nameplate
and add depth.
The third method is to process the letters and the board separately, then assemble them
to create a three-dimensional effect.
The fourth method uses laser engraving
to express letters and logos.
We will compare the pros and cons, production time, finishing difficulty,
order of finishing, adhesion methods, and engraving techniques (relief and intaglio),
and practice them in real life.
The finishing material used here is
Rubio Monocoat, which costs about 300,000 KRW per liter.
Transparent water-based varnish, regular oil,
and glass hardener—there are a total of three types.
You will practice when it is advantageous to use each finishing material,
so you can flexibly apply them in real situations,
and use them effectively.

Session 4.
Understanding passive speakers and box structures/assembly methods.
In session 4, you will design a simple passive speaker,
process it yourself, assemble it, and finish it.
In previous classes, the process mostly ended with machining,
but from now on, you will create woodworking pieces with three-dimensional structures through lamination.
You will also try making more complex forms of passive speakers.
Of course, practical woodworking know-how will also be provided during this process.
Afterward, based on the experience gained in previous sessions,
you will make a drawer-type box using dovetail joints.
Since all furniture is essentially a box, this is the most important foundation.
There are various ways to make a box.
How to directly machine dovetail joints with a CNC,
how to process furniture assembly jigs for use with a CNC,
and how to use dowels and biscuit joiners more conveniently with a CNC.
There are methods such as cutting only with CNC and assembling only with straight nails.
The pros and cons of each method, precision, production time, strength, and finishing order,
We compare structures that are advantageous for CNC machining and practice all of them.
Then, using the boxes we made, we finish with oil, varnish, and glass hardener,
and finish with Rubio Monocoat,
learning the timing of finishing.
Session 5.
Advanced box making methods / Assembly structure and drawing design
In session 5, we review box making and assembly structures.
Here, we learn how to handle the most important vectors,
and study them in depth as a basis for
trying various types of cutting.
Through this, you learn how to establish the framework of the entire furniture.
Mainly, it is a top-down approach.
How to determine the overall size,
how to divide and arrange by each part,
how to draw drawings considering the assembly order,
and how to reflect material thickness and tolerances are explained.
Through this session, students go beyond simple cutting,
and move on to the stage of designing while considering structure.
Session 6.
Practical small furniture making / Design, partition, assembly, finishing.
In session 6, based on what you have learned so far,
you will create small furniture that can actually be used.
Students will select simple furniture such as tables, chairs, or desks according to their goals and progress,
and proceed from design,
to processing, assembly, and finishing.
We will cover drawing design, part partitioning, assembly order, material usage,
and cost estimation skills together.
We will also discuss how to connect design and processing as much as possible using a single CAD/CAM program.

The connection method will also differ for each piece of furniture.
In this process, you will try using nailers, straight nailers, dowels, biscuits,
box joints, and barrel nuts, among others.
In reality, you will rarely need any joining methods beyond these.
You can consider that there is no need for more than these methods.
After processing, you will proceed with actual assembly and oil finishing,
and experience the process of turning a CNC-processed item into a finished product.
Session 7.
Mid-term check / Review, reinforcement, problem solving / Drawer cabinet making theory
Session 7 is for reviewing what has been learned so far,
and reinforcing any areas that need improvement.
The previous curriculum describes the ideal flow,
but in actual classes, each student has a different pace of understanding and working.
Therefore, we check for any shortcomings through a mid-term review,
and repeatedly practice the necessary content.
We revisit common issues in CNC machining, tool usage,
woodworking equipment operation, clamping failures, dimensional errors, finishing failures,
and problems with assembly order.
This session is not just about progressing through the curriculum,
but aims to ensure that students can actually work independently.
The goal is to confirm whether students are ready to work on their own.
You will also learn about the theory of designing a drawer cabinet using only CNC design.
If time permits, we will proceed from designing to machining the drawer cabinet.
Session 8.
Basic Aluminum CNC Machining / Woodworking CNC Drawer Cabinet Machining
From session 8, we expand to metal machining on woodworking CNC,
and utilizing other equipment.
We cover the basic concepts of aluminum CNC machining,
the differences from woodworking CNC, equipment rigidity, clamping methods, and end mill selection.
This explains cutting conditions, feed rate, cooling, and chip removal issues.
We will directly perform simple aluminum machining,
to see under which conditions the cutting works well,
and under which conditions problems occur.
From this session, we will also explain the basics of lathes, 3D printers, and laser equipment.
A basic overview of these will be provided starting from this session.
And we will complete the drawer that we machined last time.
If you can properly design the drawer based on CNC,
and assemble it to completion,
you will have no problem making most basic furniture.
Session 9.
Aluminum Machining Review / Understanding Lathes, 3D Printers, and Laser Equipment
In session 9, we will repeat aluminum CNC machining once more,
and look at how to utilize lathes, 3D printers, and laser equipment.
We will cover double-sided machining, setting position references,
hole machining, and the basic flow of part machining in aluminum processing.
The lathe lecture will focus on simple usage for making round parts that are difficult to produce with CNC.
The lecture will mainly cover simple usage methods.
It is similar to a wood lathe, and if you know how to use it,
there are many ways to utilize it in the future.
You will learn how to make jigs using a 3D printer.
Design with a usable 3D printer CAD that does not require a subscription.
We proceed by using open-source printer output programs.
For laser equipment, we use what we currently have.
We focus on CO2 lasers for vector and bitmap
cutting and engraving.
If there are four or more applicants, a Galvo-type laser
can be purchased to add metal engraving and cutting
to the curriculum.
Session 10.
Integrated production practice / CNC, laser, 3D printer, and finishing integration
In session 10, you will combine the equipment and processing methods learned so far
to create a finished product.
By integrating all the processing methods learned so far,
you will make a large air purifier for woodworking shops.
Its performance is superior to commercial products,
so it can actually be used.
Session 11.
Large furniture production / Real client-based workflow
In session 11, after consulting with the student in advance
We will personally craft the selected large furniture.
Unlike small accessories, large projects have many variables to consider.
Taking actual furniture production as an example, after determining the overall size, we select the wood.
We consider the processing order, assembly sequence, and the feasibility of on-site installation.
We also take into account the method of transportation.
If you wish to have it delivered to your home,
We will discuss and share the delivery cost. (Delivery to Jeju Island may not be possible.)
Up to two sheets of wood, based on the original size, will be provided for furniture production.
These will be supplied by the Toolbox Workshop.
If you exceed this range, consultation will be required.
As I keep mentioning, the key point of woodworking CNC is
that most of the processing is done by CNC.
After entering all the values from the design stage,
you simply fasten the parts processed by the CNC,
and the goal is to assemble them in this way.
The drawer theory above also applies to this.
Session 12.
Large Furniture Production 2 / Final Inspection
While continuously working on the furniture started in session 11,
we will review and revisit any areas that were lacking.
In addition, it provides guidance on advanced areas that are difficult to cover in depth within 100 hours.
It also helps set the direction for advanced topics.
3D processing, large-scale sculpture production, film and drama prop making,
hi-fi speaker production, paint spraying, and so on,
as well as an overview of workshop startups, operations, and accessible markets,
and offers general advice on the overall situation.
And most importantly, it reviews the essential tools needed for workshop operation,
reminding you once again about them.
